Tournament Success for Seattle Celtic
Congratulations to Seattle Celtic B04 Green, B03 White and G03 Green on their recent tournament success.
The B04 (U10) Green team captured the first silverware of the summer by winning the U11 Crossfire Select Cup. Despite winning all three group games they somehow only made it to the Silver semi finals (with teams with only one win qualifying for Gold!). In spite of their disappointment at what was probably the strangest format ever conceived, they confirmed their place in the Final following a closely-fought encounter with the Seattle Celtic B03 (U11) White team. The final saw them emerge with the trophy with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over FC Edmonds Velocity U11 A.
With a mix of players from our U11 A, B, C and D teams the B03 White put on an exhibition of soccer in the REDAPT Cup at 60 Acres. In the group stages they secured wins over Crossfire Premier C (5-3), Seattle United West Blue (5-2) and Seattle United South Blue (9-0) before a 4-2 victory over Liga Tlaxtli in the Semi Finals. The Final saw a repeat of our tricky first game but with a carefully formed game plan in hand Coach Oisin led the guys to a comfortable 6-0 victory to capture the title!

The G03 Green completed an excellent few weeks by capturing the U11 Labor Day Cup. After relinquishing a two goal half-time lead against Alaska Rush to tie 2-2, the girls left it late in their second game with two crackers from outside the box from Jadyn in the final 5 minutes to defeat a very talented Pac NW team. The girls secured their passage to the semi final in style with a 4-0 victory over Crossfire in the final game. The semi final saw us take on PSPL League rivals ISC Gunners A with Celtic eventually winning 2-0. This score was replicated in the final against Kitsap Alliance A and on the evidence of some of the displays in this tournament the girls look to have very bright futures ahead of them!
Seattle Celtic B04 Green Player Drew interviews Kenny Cooper and Clint Dempsey
In a recent school project about the 2012 World Cup, B04 Green team player Drew decided to call upon a few experts in the field and so got in touch with his good pal Clint Dempsey who jumped at the opportunity of a sit down with Drew. Following the interview, the Sounders PR team thought it would be a great idea to have Drew interview some of their players with the intention of airing some highlights on the big screen prior to a game. Catch Drew's interview with forward Kenny Cooper which aired to 55,000 fans on August 10 before the Sounders Vs Houston Dynamo game. Great work Drew - and thanks to the Sounders for being so accommodating for their young fans/future players!
UW SEATTLE CELTIC CLUB DAY A GREAT SUCCESS
Despite fantastic support from the Celtic community both on the sidelines and in the stands, the Huskies fell 4-0 to Wisconsin last Friday. The G03 Green team had a great showing and would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the UW players for being so receptive to them both before and after the game. The standard of soccer on display from both teams was outstanding and should definitely serve to inspire our players to put in the time on the practice field so they can one they be lining out in the Husky Purple.
